Over the years, Surfrider Europe has succeeded in bringing together a large community of committed European citizens. Surfrider Europe, which was originally a small group of surfers willing to protect their playground, has considerably grown and diversified over the years. This reflects perfectly the environmental movement that’s happening worldwide.
Uniting values…
The values around which our association was built in 1990 are more than ever at the heart of our identity and continue to guide each of our actions. Committed, informed, conscious, responsible and passionate, these are the adjectives that characterize each of those who have chosen to be actors of change. A diverse, vibrant and authentic community. A community of European citizens that includes artists and athletes, experts and students, both in our cities and on our coastline and even beyond.
We are the new generation, the one working for better practices and f or a better ocean. Together we want to build a multi-faceted community, ea ch one of these facets representing a reason to be part of Surfrider Europe. To accompany this change, we wanted to reinvent ourselves by paying tribute to our past, reflecting who we are today.

From the beginning, Surfrider Europe has relied on a wide c ommunity of volunteers and committed citizens to defend the interests of the marine environment and its users locally, while acting working with national and european institutions to develop a pro-environment legislation . Through these two combined actions, Surfrider Europe i s driving its vision of ecological and social change for the protection of the ocean, for the benefit of future generations.
A new logo as a new banner.
The redesign of the logo fits in Surfrider Foundation Europe’s reaffirmation within a wider international network as well as in the desire of harmonization of its visual identity. The waves make a square shape that reinforces the activist spirit of the association. Typographical choices combine affirmation and humanity. On the one hand, they strengthen Surfrider Europe’s legitimacy in our fights and on the other hand, the human cohesiveness that its community release. At the heart of these values is the conviction of the profound link between humans and the ocean. This feeling drives us to act with passion, with an optimistic perspective focused on finding solutions to the challenges that marine ecosystems are facing today.
